Adelaide Airport

Adelaide Airport is located six kilometres due west of Adelaide CBD. Terminal One (T1) meets the needs of domestic, international and regional travellers across all airlines servicing Adelaide through flexible passenger facilitation processes.

Completed in 2006, the airport includes State-of-the-art passenger facilities and security systems, retail centre, high amenity public and airline lounges, runways, taxiways aprons and car parking for public and staff.

Adelaide is in the Southern Hemisphere, so the seasons are reversed, with December to February being high summer and June to August winter.

Duty Free

There are three duty free stores at Adelaide airport - a departures lounge duty free store, an arrivals lounge duty free store and a landside store in the main airport terminal. The departures lounge duty free store is open for all international departures and the arrivals lounge duty free store is open for all international arrivals in to Adelaide airport. The landside store is open seven days a week to both international as well as domestic passengers.

Local Currency

Australian currency (AUD) is known as the dollar. Notes are in $100, $50, $20, $10 and $5 denominations and coins are in $2, $1, 50c, 20c, 10c and 5c denominations. Currency exchange facilities can be found at most banks, currency exchange specialists in Adelaide's central business district and in the international terminal at Adelaide Airport.

Passports and Visas

All foreign visitors to Australia, except New Zealanders require a visa. Although the citizens of some countries can obtain an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), which is a tourist or business visa valid for up to three month stays.

Time Zones

Within Australia there are three time zones:

Eastern Standard Time (EST) operates in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Tasmania and Queensland.
Central Standard Time (CST) is 30 minutes behind EST and operates in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Western Standard Time is two hours behind EST and operates in Western Australia.

Daylight saving operates in South Australia from the end of October to the end of March. Clocks are advanced one hour during this period.
