Barang

If you want to express your individuality and create special spaces in your home…then go see Barang.

Barang does not stock brand names as a matter of conscious choice and has an eclectic and totally unique mix of all things, capturing your attention as soon as you enter the fun and edgy concept store.

Located on The Parade, Norwood and at the Mt Barker Homemaker Centre, Mt Barker, Barang showcases wonderful and artistic home wares, furniture, rugs and accessories sourced from over 16 countries around the world.

Brothers TJ, & Jesse, founders of Barang wanted to bring an exciting and colourful shopping experience to the Adelaide market.

Working and living all over the world the brothers’ wide travels have allowed them to source and curate a very special selection from all corners of the globe inspired by quality and functionality.

“Travelling the world, we wanted to find things that brought a splash of colour and fun to our lives. Barang does this and we love seeing the excitement when customers find something just right,” said Jesse.

“A focus of ours was to bring together a selection that made people happy and were different at the same time. The stimulation from seeing shoppers engaging with different products is great and creating an engaging space takes a lot of our attention."

The Norwood store, the first installation of Barang established in 2013, has everything in the store for sale, including the fittings, and the store theme bridges the gap between reality and fantasy.

“Our Norwood store has a contemporary feel and we have used raw industrial materials like stone, metal framing, timber, tree scapes to create a roof space that interacts with products in the store, we want people to have a different retail experience; we incorporated a birch tree grove and window frames through the store to bring inside and outside together. When we get our permanent location in Mt Barker we’ll lift the bar again."

“The range is rather large! Occasional furniture with a difference, décor with colour or attitude, one of the broadest collections of shawls/scarves in Adelaide, olive wood tableware from Tunisia, woven baskets from Botswana, contemporary & traditional jute rugs, Kilims from Afghanistan, ceramics from Spain and Italy, “Frida Kahlo” embroidered cushions, .some of the coolest mirrors you will find in leather, timber, metal, Guatemalan fabric based pieces, Timorese ancestral sculptures, a range of ottomans/pouffes in leather and canvas and cotton..the list just goes on (and on and on)!"

Why AB thinks Barang is one of Adelaides Best:  A great place to pick up something for the home or a gift that is truly unique. Plus they have received positive feedback about the value of their products from over 6000 past happy customer's!
